Dr. Michael Dyal is an Interventional Cardiologist and Program Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Miami and the Miami VA Medical Center. With robust academic roles as the Director of Cardiovascular Education for first-year medical students and program director for the interventional cardiology fellowship, Dr. Dyal has been instrumental in the development and implementation of an innovative, systems-based cardiovascular curriculum. Across the spectrum of education, Dr. Dyal has has earned multiple distinguished teaching awards.
Dr. Dyal’s clinical expertise spans complex coronary interventions, with a particular focus on coronary imaging and physiology to optimize percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) outcomes and long-term durability. His active contributions to structural heart disease include leading the Miami VA’s Structural Heart Center and national initiatives to expand TAVR, MitraClip, and left atrial appendage occlusion programs across the VA healthcare system. His research on intravascular imaging and physiology-guided PCI has informed best practices, contributing to improved care pathways.
Beyond his clinical and educational roles, Dr. Dyal serves as Associate Deputy Director of the National Cardiology Program Office, where he leads initiatives aimed at standardizing quality care and strengthening interventional program infrastructure at VA hospitals nationwide.
A passionate advocate for cardiometabolic health, Dr. Dyal supports preventive approaches that enhance cardiovascular wellness. His work has been shaped by his belief in the transformative potential of education, multidisciplinary collaboration, and thoughtful program design. Outside of medicine, he is a former two-sport collegiate athlete and an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking, freediving, and skiing. Dr. Dyal’s commitment to mentorship and innovation continues to inspire the next generation of interventional cardiologists.
