Dr. Cohen is the Director of Structural Heart Interventions at the Cleveland Clinic Florida. He attended Medical School at Universidad Nacional de Tucumán in Argentina. He completed his medicine and general cardiology training at Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires in Argentina. In 1997, he received the SOLACI (Latin American Society of Interventional Cardiology) scholarship award to train in interventional cardiology and research at Duke University Medical Center. This award is given to the best young Latin American cardiologist each year. In 2000, he joined the interventional cardiology staff at Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires, one of the leading medical institutions in South America, and also worked as a clinical trials reviewer for ANMAT (Administración Nacional de Medicamentos, Alimentos y Tecnologías Médicas – National Administration for Medicines, Foods and Medical Technologies) between 2000 and 2002. Between 2003 and 2008 he was associate cath lab director and Assistant Professor of Medicine at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Between 2009 and 2023 he was the Cath Lab Director and Professor of Medicine at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He has published more than 200 papers in top tier peer-reviewed journals and more than 20 book chapters. He co-authored various AHA Scientific Statements and 2021 ACC/AHA/SCAI Revascularization Guidelines. In 2010, Dr. Cohen was selected for the “Emerging Leaders Mentorship” program of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. He has held leadership roles as Chair of the Acute Care Committee of AHA, and Chair of the Ischemic Heart Disease Council of SCAI. Dr. Cohen’s major clinical and research interests include structural heart interventions, complex PCI, novel antithrombotic strategies, transradial cardiac catheterization and intervention, transcatheter valve therapies, and health disparities. He has lectured and presented his work at prestigious national and international meetings.
