Rooney Heart Institute, NCH Healthcare System
Naples, FL, United States
Dr. Wang is the Section Head of Cardiac Imaging at the Rooney Heart Institute, NCH Healthcare System. She is an internationally recognized leader in the field of Structural Heart Imaging and lectures around the world on peri-procedural planning for complex valvular and structural heart disease. As an interventional imaging physician, she specializes in peri- and intraprocedural guidance for catheter-based interventions for structural and valvular heart diseases encompassing but not limited to transcatheter mitral, tricuspid, aortic, LAA, adult-congenital, and ASD/PFO interventions. Dr. Wang has authored over 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts and book chapters in the world’s leading medical journals and has co-authored several consensus guidance statements for Structural Heart Imaging.
In her work on transcatheter mitral valve replacement therapies, Dr. Wang pioneered the development of a left ventricular outflow tract prediction modeling tool used by health systems globally to identify patients who may be anatomically suitable for transcatheter mitral valve replacement interventions. She has also established protocol pathways for the integration of multi-detector computed tomography (CT) to enhance patient outcomes in left atrial appendage closure procedures. These efforts have significantly contributed to the delivery of personalized, patient-centered care, leading to improved procedural success rates and reduced complications.
Dr. Wang’s research is dedicated to enhancing patient safety and procedural outcomes through the use of 3D+4D imaging for Structural Heart Interventions. She made history as the first Interventional Imaging Physician to be inducted as a Fellow of the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and the International Andreas Gruentzig Society. Additionally, she attained the rank of Clinical Professor at Wayne State University’s School of Medicine during her early career. Currently, she holds the position of Deputy Editor for the Journal of American College of Cardiology: Case Reports.
