My career in the medical field began in 1996, when I graduated from Jackson Memorial hospital nursing school. I went on to work as a telemetry nurse at Palmetto General hospital for 1 year. The past 26 years of my career have been in the UM/JMH Medical system. From 1998-2000, I worked at the Cardiovascular ICU at Jackson Memorial Hospital. On May 01, 2000, I transferred to the University of Miami as a Nurse Coordinator for the Cardiovascular Center and then in 2003, graduated from Florida International University as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. During the past 21 years, I have worked with a multidisciplinary group which included, Cardiology, CT surgery, Vascular, Endocrinology, Neurology, and Internal medicine. In collaboration with fellow APRN's, I developed and initiated the Atrial Fibrillation Risk Factor Management program and the Anticoagulation clinic. As an outpatient Adult APRN, I have participated in the APRN preceptorship program. I see patients on my own as well as with my collaborating physician, Dr. de Marchena, who has been my supervisor and mentor for the past 25 years. I continue to provide service to his patients, our collaborating specialties, and the University of Miami. Looking forward to my future endeavors with Dr. de Marchena and the University of Miami.
