Dr Mitrani is a Professor of Clinical Medicine and Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology
(EP)
at
University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. He received his medical degr
ee from Columbia
University, College of Physicians and Surgeons and did his Cardiology/Cardiac EP training at Indiana
University.
In addition to directing the
Cardiac Arrhythmia Section at University of Miami
, he
oversees
the Cardiac EP Fellowship program
at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital Campus.
As
an Academic Cardiac Electrophysiologist, Dr Mitrani
treats patients with simple and complex cardiac
arrhythmias
ventricular tachycardia,
supraventricular tachycardia and syncope.
He is part
icularly a
specialist at treating patients with atrial fibrillation and flutter.
He performs the full gamut of cardiac
ablation procedures.
Dr Mitrani also has over 30
years
of
experience at treating and managing patients
with cardiac pacemakers, defibrill
ators or implantable monitors. He implants the most up
-
to
-
date cardiac
devices to optimize patient care.
Dr Mitrani
has been Principal Investigator for trials involving algorithms to improve ablation outcomes in
patients with persistent atrial fibrillatio
n
(AF)
.
He
participate
d
in NIH sponsored multicenter trials such as
the
landmark
CABANA Trial, a study to compare catheter ablation versus pharmacologic therapy in
patients with atrial fibrillation.
